Easter Long Weekend

Yesterday was Good Friday, (happy Good Friday to those who celebrate!) which means the office was closed, so I'm currently enjoying a much needed long weekend. The bf and I decided to walk over to The Annex to dig for old vinyls at Sonic Boom, and grab some grub. Sat at Christie Pitts Park for a while too, I can't wait until everything turns green soon, instead of the yucky brown seen here.

I went for stripes and spikes in my outfit, I grabbed this amazing Aîko spike-shoulder vest on super sale in Florida a while back. I love it because not only is it super comfortable and easy, it's unique and adds a bit of edge to my outfit. My bffs bought me this beautiful knock-off McQueen infinity-scarf for my birthday this year, and the two pair really well together. I love my friends!

How are you enjoying your Easter long weekend?

HR2 From Holt Renfrew Opens First Store Today

If you're in Montreal this weekend, you're in luck. HR2, the brand new off price department store from Holt Renfrew, opens it's doors today. At over 25,000 sq ft, the store will carry luxury brands such as Alice + Olivia, Tory Burch, DvF, and many more, at great prices. Think, Saks on the Fifth or Nordstrom Rack. Don't worry Toronto, we'll be getting our own HR2 at Vaughan Mills later this Spring on April 27th. It's about time Canada got its own off price luxury department store, what do you think? Will you shop at HR2?

Kleinfeld Bridal Coming to Toronto!

Toronto Bride-To-Be's, rejoice! Legendary designer bridal retailer Kleinfeld of 'Say Yes to the Dress' fame has inked a deal with Hudson's Bay Co. to open a 20,000 sq. ft. salon in The Bay's Queen St store. Women from all over the world travel to New York to pick their dream dress at Kleinfeld's, and starting in Spring 2014, Toronto brides will no longer have to make that trek. My only question is, will 'Say Yes to the Dress Canada' be next? One can only hope!

Lululemon Online Shopping Outlet

UPDATE 3/28/2013 -  Apparently this site is a fake, and people are getting scammed on their orders.  See article here.  Goes to show you, always do your research, if it's too good to be true, it probably is!

Forget about #Pantsgate, did you know Lululemon has an online shopping outlet? Me neither! I discovered this on the weekend through a friend, and my other friends didn't seem to know about it either. It's like having an outlet store in your backyard, I think the only one not happy with this news is my wallet. Now anyone can get their hands on Lulu's amazing yoga wear for a reasonable price, check it out here (link removed due to fake site, see update above) and happy shopping!

Wild Wild West

It was finally just warm enough to go out in a big sweater and layers this weekend, I'm getting fed up with the snow. I really needed a relaxing weekend after this crazy work week, so the bf and I ordered in Thai food from Thai Lime, and had a bad movie night.

Funny note about my hat; it's made by a local company called DeLux Hats where I worked for a while. I helped select their Fall 2011 line, and this hat from the collection was actually named after me! Hard to capture on camera the beautiful rich brown colour, needless to say it will always be one of my favorites.

Toronto Fashion Week: Joe Fresh Fall 2013

There was one other Fall collection I was dying to see come down the runway this week in Toronto, and that was Joe Fresh's Fall 2013. The affordable Canadian fashion power house has really been gaining credibility and success internationally, which is really exciting for a Toronto local. Their show is the hottest ticket in town, and I'm happy to see it did not disappoint. I could have gone without the ratty wigs all the models wore, but loved the clothes themselves. The dark collection featured details like sequins & rhinestones, lots of prints, pretty blouses with polka dots & ruffles, sweater suits, and laser cut tanks. There's lots of options for the office, or a night on the town, and the best thing about a Joe Fresh show, is that you know you can actually afford the outfits you like. I know it's only March, but with Fall being my favorite season for clothes, I can't wait to see these collections hit stores!

What did you think of Joe Fresh's Fall 2013 Collection? What was your favorite show this week?

Toronto Fashion Week: Line Knitwear Fall 2013

Toronto Fashion Week has been going full force this week, and while I've been extremely busy at work, I had to take a moment to check out Line Knitwear's new Fall 2013 show. Line has really become one of my favorite brands lately with their gorgeous knits, and being from Toronto gives them a special place in my heart. On chilly mornings, nothing feels better than a soft, luxurious sweater with a cup of tea, and they certainly fill that need. Their Fall 2013 line did not fail to impress either, it showed edge with lots of black and greys, leather, motorcycle cuts, and metallics. Right up my alley, I want all of it.

I also just discovered that LK has another knitwear line, John & Jenn, with pretty sweaters at a lower price point. So now everyone can add some beautiful knits to their wardrobe at an affordable price, what more could you ask?

What do you think of Line Knitwear's Fall 2013 collection? Share in the comments!

Happy St Pats

Did you get your fill of green beer this weekend? The bf and I had some friends over last night to watch the GSP vs Diaz fight, which is always a great time. We were hoping to walk around Kensington Market during the day, but it was just too cold this weekend. Damn you Mother Nature! I was still able to wear a dress though, bundled up in my favorite Roberto Cavalli for H&M sweater. How beautiful is this vintage necklace I picked up at a Salvation Army in Detroit? The little swinging cherub is so cute, you can find the most unique pieces for super cheap there. I can't wait for my next trip home so I can swing by and pick up more.

Happy St. Paddy's Day!

TGIF

This week has been insanely busy at work, it seemed I just blinked and it's Friday. I don't even care that it's suddenly freezing here in Toronto again, just bring on the weekend! Met up with a girlfriend last night for dinner and attempted to get tacos at Grand Electric on Queen West, but the wait was too long so we ended up at yummy Banjara on Bloor for delicious Indian food. They have maybe the best butter chicken in the city, honestly it melts in your mouth, I highly recommend checking them out. Happy weekend!

Denim Days

I was super excited to finally be able to wear a maxi skirt this weekend, with bare legs no less. Some of my favorite grafitti in the city is nearby, so the bf & I took a stroll to check it out.  Love this overpass wall in particular, though taggers have a gone a little nuts over it, sadly.  Daylight savings passed, so the sun is out longer, which is such a mood lifter. I expect people to only get perkier from here on out, myself included! How did you enjoy the beautiful weekend?

Everlane

The bones to any great wardrobe is great basics, and quality for the right price can be hard to come by. The Olsens even had to start their own clothing line to find what they considered the perfect t-shirt. Enter, California-based company Everlane. Everlane produces & sells high quality basics like t-shirts & cashmere sweaters at a fraction of the usual retail price. Because they operate exclusively online, overhead costs are low, and so they are able to keep their product prices down, without sacrificing any quality. Huzzah! And at this time they are trying to bring their online shopping to Canada through Crowd Fund, so my fellow Canucks, if you want to bring great basics to your closet, check it out now!

UPDATE - Everlane reached it's Kickstarter goal, and has begun shipping to Canada!  Register here, and get to shoppin'.

Saturday Night Fever

The mild temperature continues and so does my good mood here in the Great North. Went out to celebrate a friend's birthday and hear some good tunes from local bands last night at a hole in the wall, but back early and sober since I'm still not feeling 100%. Even if I'm still a bit sick, this cheetah coat succeeded in making me feel like a million bucks!

Outfit: Coat & Necklace - Forever 21; Top & Leggings - H&M; Heels - Gucci; Bag - Rebecca Minkoff

Also, snapped this picture from my roof recently on one of our freezing cold early mornings. Sometimes, this city really can be stunning.

Back in the Saddle

I came down with some sort of stomach flu this week, and have been down and out recovering. Finally feeling better today, luckily it's also the first gorgeous day in months. It's even warm enough for just a light jacket, so I plan on taking full advantage enjoying this weather. Nothing heals like sunshine, so bring it on sun!

Zara Home Opening First Canadian Store in 2013

The good news keeps rolling in for us Canadians, with Zara announcing the launch of their first Zara Home store in Canada. The store will be opening at the beautiful Yorkdale Mall in Toronto some time this year. I can't wait, first we get online shopping, now this, it's been fantastic month for Zara lovers!

La Mer Collections

If you're not on Pinterest yet, you are missing out. There are so many great ideas & inspirations for everything from style, to crafting, to cooking, to travel. This week I spotted a great watch from a company I was unfamiliar with, La Mer Collections. I googled their site, and have now fallen completely in love! These watches are beautiful. They have all sorts of styles, but my favorite by far has to be the leather wrap/chain combos. They come in many different colours, and range from preppy, to nautical, to punk rock and beyond. And at a pretty reasonable price point with most watches well under $200, I had to order one stat. I can't wait!

Zara Launching Online Shopping in Canada March 6

Exciting news for us Canucks! Zara announced last week that Canadians will finally be able to shop their fashion-forward goods online starting March 6th. I could not be more excited for this! I love Zara, but I find their in-store experience lacking at times with huge checkout lines, plus it can be hard to find your size in the more popular styles. Now, I'll be able to snag my favourite pieces as soon as they become available, who could ask for anything more?!

Also announced this week, H&M and Joe Fresh are going to be available for online shopping in the US (Joe Fresh launched this week, available through JC Penney here). It's only a matter of time before they're available in Canada as well, I suspect. Pretty soon, I won't even need to leave the house to get my hands on all my favourite brands!

Woohoo, bring on the online shopping!

Coffee Break

TGIF! It's freezing in Toronto today, but it's almost the weekend and that makes everything else alright. Squeezed in a coffee break at Balzac's (where my Dragon's Den fans at??) in Liberty Village today near the office, I love their quaint coffee shop decor. Obviously these shots were snapped back in the Fall though, as you can tell from the lack of white stuff on the ground, but you get the general idea haha. Sometimes a latte is all you need to make your day, it's the little things really. Happy weekend everyone!
